Throughout her troubled life, she relies on her sense of humor, faith, love and friends to get her through tough times; all the while, in the shadow of her mind, wondering about her birth mother.

About the Author
Carolina P. McMullen was born in Rota, Spain, but now calls Charleston, South Carolina home. She is a bilingual writer as well as the creator of soon to be published children stories and their illustrations. Married to her husband for over 25 years, she enjoys travelling and has four chihuahuas as well as two grown children. Vicenta de Paul is her first novel in a trilogy entitled 'Not Here To Stay'. These fictional books were inspired by the many stories her grandmother told her when she was a young girl. Her grandmother's love for reading and storytelling were responsible for the growth of Carolina's curiosity leading her to the fascinating world of words.

A story about strong Christian Women.

This is a story of the strength of women in Spain during turmoils in their lives and their country. I loved the building of the character and her supporting characters. I felt Caroline used intrigue and basically what is going to happen next, to keep the reader immersed in this story. I loved the ending paragraph. Great book!!

Beautifully written I can't wait to read the rest of the series!!!!!!

This was an amazing story. I originally read it because Carolina is family. However the way this book is written sucked me right in. The era of the story interests me very much. It was such a different time then. The knowledge of the era, and the way the characters came alive, made the story jump into my vision as if I was there witnessing the events. This is a good read for any teen through adult.

Just finished reading this book. The story kept me engaged and wanted to keep reading. I appreciate a good read that is not filled with profanity or expliciate sexual acts. Looking forward to books 2 and 3.
